How to Turn On Automatic Receipts for Client Credit Card Payments

Providing clients with timely payment receipts is an important part of maintaining transparent, professional financial communication. My Best Practice makes this easy by allowing practices to automatically send receipts whenever a client’s credit card payment is successfully processed. Enabling this feature ensures clients receive immediate confirmation of their transactions without any manual steps from your team.

What Automatic Receipts Do

When automatic receipts are turned on:

  • Clients receive an email receipt immediately after their credit card payment is approved.

  • The receipt includes the payment amount, date, and confirmation details from your integrated payment processor.

  • Staff no longer need to manually generate or send receipts for each transaction.

How to Enable Automatic Receipts

Follow the steps below to turn on automatic receipts for credit card payments:

1. Navigate to Practice Settings

  1. Settings - Account Settings

  2. Select Edit under Practice Settings

  3. Navigate to the Notifications tab

3. Enable Automatic Receipts

Locate the option labeled Send Credit Card Receipt to Clients. Toggle the setting ON to activate automatic receipts.

Once enabled, receipts will be sent for all future credit card transactions processed through your practice’s integrated payment system.

Important Notes

  • Automatic receipts apply only to credit card payments processed through your integrated payment processor.

  • Manually recorded payments do not generate automatic receipts.

  • If a client reports not receiving a receipt, confirm their email address is correct in their Client Profile and they are the 'Alerted' portal user.

  • Staff can still manually generate/send a receipt from the Invoice icon.
