Managing finances efficiently is crucial for every practice, especially when it comes to accurately recording offline payments. This article will guide you through the necessary steps to record payments not collected through the MBP system, addressing all related queries with solutions.
Before you can start recording offline payments, it's important to ensure that offline claims are enabled.
Enabling Insurance: Within the Practice Settings, locate the Insurance tab. Here, you have the ability to enable offline claims by selecting 'Enable Offline Insurance'. Once this is enabled, the offline claims tab will become visible within your claim center.
Navigate to Settings ➡️ Claim Center ➡️ Providers & Payers. Then, find the option to create offline payers.
Once the offline claims feature is enabled and payers have been added, you'll want to record such payments effectively:
Navigating to the Offline Claims Tab: With the offline claims feature enabled, access the newly visible 'Offline Claims' tab. This tab serves as the central hub for managing and recording all manually handled payments.
Inputting Payment Details: Enter the necessary details for each offline payment. This includes the payer details, payment dates, amounts, and any other relevant notes or identifiers to ensure thorough record-keeping. Accurate data entry here is key to maintaining financial integrity and preventing audit issues later.
Select the $0.00 hyperlink in the respective column to manually record a payment for client, insurance, and/or write offs.
Lump Sum Payments: Large checks for multiple clients can be managed using the 'Click here to manager Insurance Payments' hyperlink.
